ANDREW MCCUBBIN — THROUGH YOUR HOOP

The second single from his forthcoming album, Light Neck Speed — a restless, bruised song about pushing forward when the way through isn't clear.
If the first single, Run All Night, was about escape, Through Your Hoop is about endurance.
It's heavier, more psychologically charged and restless. Tension runs underneath the song, but there is no sense of surrender. It sounds like someone who has been pushed hard, searching for a way through and continuing regardless.
Together, the two singles offer a compelling introduction to Light Neck Speed: Run All Night moving forward into the night; Through Your Hoop going deeper into whatever lies ahead.
If Run All Night opened the door, Through Your Hoop walks straight into the darkness — and keeps walking.
Co-written with Melinda Kay Pritchard, Through Your Hoop features McCubbin on vocals, guitars and piano, his son Huxley McCubbin on drums, and Andy Papadopoulos (Ron Peno) on bass. The track was recorded by McCubbin at Field Day Recording Studios in Tylden, mixed by McCubbin and Gary Aspinall (Killjoys), and mastered by Nao Anzai (Cash Savage / Teskey Brothers).
Fresh from a European tour with guitarist Henry Hugo, where the pair supported and performed alongside Mick Harvey of The Birthday Party and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, McCubbin now brings Through Your Hoop to the stage for its Melbourne launch.
