Andrew McCubbin's first acclaimed album 'Dead Pilot' released in 2001 saw the birth of the magical ‘Fog Song’. The intoxicating atmosphere of this gem received rapturous reviews in Sydney and Melbourne including Single of the Week in Beat Magazine, Melbourne.

The second album, 'Steer', was released in 2004 again to critical acclaim and the band set off touring extensively through Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Europe, gaining admiration from European bands, radio programmers and critics.

In 2007, the third album, ‘Blue’ was released to critical acclaim with Time Out Magazine giving it 4.5 stars and the ABC’s Billy Baxter claiming that McCubbin had “the most beautiful voice on the indie scene”. The Hope Addicts again toured Europe on the back of this release playing the summer festival circuit.

In 2011 Andrew and his band Hope Addicts toured Europe yet again, selling out of the fourth album, HOPE ADDICTS.

Reviews

" the most beautiful voice on the indie scene"
Billy Baxter ABC Radio

one of the finest songwriters to emerge from Melbourne….Stunning records like this don’t come along everyday. It’s hard to describe
music as sensuously beautiful as this; harder still to even believe it actually exists”
Inpress Magazine

“the sonic equivalent of endless longing”
Editor’s review Download.com (USA)

“…remarkable. Each piece is beautifully understated and realised with only judicious embellishment although lead track ‘Blue’ is the stand out – a kind of antipodean crush of gravity and scale, taut and fraught, a breakdown in the desert, beyond belief.”
Beat Magazine

“McCubbin channels the pitch-black romanticism and solemn vocal style of both Leonard Cohen and the late, often great Triffid, David McComb”.
Sydney Morning Herald

”Beautiful”
